I am a professional composer, orchestrator, arranger and conductor with strong academic training and international publishing experience. My work includes original composition for film, media and library music, as well as orchestral writing, jazz arranging, big band scoring and professional score preparation. My musical language combines orchestral writing, jazz vocabulary and cinematic sensitivity. I offer carefully crafted music with strong artistic identity, technical precision and professional delivery.
MY RESUME
Marcello Massa is an Italian composer, orchestrator, arranger and conductor specializing in orchestral and jazz writing, film and media music, and professional score preparation. He graduated in Jazz Piano from the Conservatorio di Musica “San Pietro a Majella” in Naples in 2016 and earned a Second-Level Academic Diploma in Jazz Composition from the Conservatorio “G. Martucci” in Salerno in 2018, receiving highest honors for both degrees. He later completed an Advanced Artistic Specialization Diploma in Orchestral Conducting at the Accademia Internazionale di Imola “Incontri col Maestro” with Maestro Marco Boni in 2023, followed by a First-Level Master’s Degree in Film Scoring with Maestro Francesco De Donatis in 2026.
His music has been published by international catalogues including West One Music, Warner Chappel Music, Alibi Music, Studio Fontana / EVOKE, Dodge A Bullet, Bibliotheque / Metro Park and MYMA APM / Metro Park
His credits span film, theatre, advertising and cultural productions, including When I Touch the Stars, UNO, the Maison Tatiana Fabergé commercial, OPEN MIC FARM and I Giusti? by Gianluca Ariemma, and the musical reading Luigi e Carlo Vanvitelli parlano al futuro, with a text by Dalia Coronato, written for the Vanvitelli celebrations. His collaboration with Rosanna Mennella includes the single La ninna nanna dei tulipani (2021), for which Massa composed the music and Mennella wrote the lyrics, and Preghiera alla luce di maggio (2026), arranged by Massa.
He is arranger and conductor for Enrico Bellotta’s Essence Orchestra and has collaborated with ensembles including Marigliano In Jazz Big Band, Piccola Orchestra Feelix, Nuove Consonanze Orchestra and Ser Venovan Orchestra. Two of his arrangements appear on Triology Vol. 3 by Mario Nappi Trio + MIJ Big Band, released by Skidoo in 2019. His collaboration with the Marigliano In Jazz Big Band also includes the album Free Entry, released in 2024.
His conducting experience encompasses opera, symphonic repertoire, jazz and film music. He made his operatic debut in 2017 at Teatro Umberto Giordano in Foggia with Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, under the guidance of Maestro Mariano Patti. He conducted and orchestrated music for the Centenary Concert of Gino Marinuzzi Jr., produced in collaboration with Fondazione NoMus, and appeared as arranger and conductor with the Marigliano In Jazz Big Band at the XI and XII editions of the Marigliano In Jazz Festival.
